A Rice family happily shows off a litter of new puppies. At left is Michael Kurt and his two nieces – sisters he legally adopted, Sabrina (middle) and Terri Thompson. The puppies – all males – are the offspring of Missy, one of the family’s two dachshunds, the other being Timmy.
Sabrina Thompson, Michael Kurt and Terri Thompson enjoyed a picnic pizza on a warm day recently at their home in Rockwood Estates Mobile Home Park just south of Rice. On June 23, 2015, Kurt and his partner, now deceased, legally adopted the two nieces, sisters Sabrina and Terri, because they had been in foster homes in the Tulsa, Okla. area and needed a steady home. Now they consider themselves a happy family of three, with two dachshunds – Missy and Timmy. Missy gave birth to four puppies a month ago, all males. Kurt and the girls are now trying to find the puppies good homes.
