July 11, 2021Avon • St. Benedict Parish festival starts with outdoor polka Mass at 10 a.m. with music by the Gene Ostendorf Band. Activities run from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Event includes food and refreshment stands, beer garden, games for the entire family including bingo (in air-conditioned area), fish pond, straw stand, cake walk, meat raffle and live music all afternoon. Sports gift card raffle. Quilt auction at 2 p.m. Grand raffle at 5:30 p.m. Cash raffle grand prize is $5,000.

July 30, 2021We welcome our friends and neighbors to enjoy a self-guided tour of the private gardens and green space of Saint John’s Abbey. The backyard of the monastery contains several gardens maintained by various monks which include a wide variety of flora selected by each gardener. Notably, several mature pines, the seeds of which were transported from Metten Abbey in Bavaria and planed shortly after the founding of Saint John’s Abbey nearly 165 years ago still stand.
A suggested donation of $5 per person is payable upon arrival. All tours begin at the Great Hall on the campus of Saint John’s University. Tours are handicapped accessible and last between 45 to 90 minutes.
