10:00 am: 6th Annual Spring Fest & Fiber Fair10:00 am: 6th Annual Spring Fest & Fiber Fair – A gathering for fiber producers, fiber artists, knitters, and crafters featuring education, demonstrations, vendor marketplace, fiber art displays will be held in St. Cloud on June 5. A vendor marketplace will feature small farm producers of raw wool, alpaca, angora rabbit, llama, and mohair goat fiber. Items for sale will include raw wool, scoured wool, roving, combed top, handdyed wool, and handspun yarn. Other items for sale will include felted hats and figurines, goat milk soap and lotions, dryer balls, kitchen dishcloths and scrubbies. Vendors will have spinning wheels, looms, home knitting machines and carding equipment for sale. A free demonstration of Machine Knit Lace Socks will be done by Carole Wurst from 1:30-2:30. Central Minnesota Fiber Arts Guild will do a show-and-tell at 2:45. Vendors will do on-going demonstrations of spinning yarn, knitting and felting throughout the day. Participate in a Spinning Circle with the vendors and other participants all day, 10-4. Bring a spinning wheel, drop spindle or handknitting project and a comfortable chair. Fleeces from this year's shearing will be on display featuring a number of different breeds. Fleeces will be for sale. A food truck will be on site. Admission is free! June 9 Healthy Living for Brain and Body
Learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to incorporate into a plan for healthy aging.
June 23 Dementia Conversations
This program provides tips for breaking the ice with family and loved ones to address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care.
July 7 Effective Communication Strategies
As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. This presentation will explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s, help decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help communicate at each stage of the disease. This session will also feature a panel of caregivers.

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. Learn how to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers and utilize strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
