August 11, 2021Photographer shares veteran, survivor stories from
WWII project at Stearns History MuseumST. CLOUD (June 28, 2021) – Jay Grammond will present One Last Time: World War II Veteran Stories at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the Stearns History Museum’s Breakfast Club.
Grammond, a professional photographer and amateur historian, will share the stories of World War II veterans and survivors who participated in his 13-year-old History Series in Elk River. He will retell the stories of homefront workers, Allied prisoners of war, Holocaust and Japanese-American internment camp survivors, and a German Soldier, who’s entire tour was spent on the Eastern Front.
Grammond, who studied the war for two decades, has worked with veterans from all eras. Sadly, some who participated in his series are no longer here. One even said: “This will probably be my last time telling this story.” Grammond is currently working on a video and portrait project featuring those from the World War II era.
Attendance for this event is limited to 50 people due to COVID-19 space limitations. Reservations are required and will close at noon Tuesday, July 13. Please call the Museum at 320-253-8424 to register.
The Breakfast Club program is free for Stearns History Museum members and $7 for nonmembers.
Coffee and rolls will be provided. Don’t miss this unique insight into the lives of these amazing people.
The Stearns History Museum connects people through the power of history and culture, offering a premier cultural heritage experience in Central Minnesota. Check our website at StearnsHistoryMuseum.org for more information on membership options and other upcoming events.
