Sartell Police Chief Brandon Silgjord received a nice big surprise on Sept. 13 – notification that he was honored with a “40 Under 40” award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The prestigious award is given to the top 40 enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from throughout the world. It is given to honor those who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication and service to the areas they serve and to their profession – law enforcement.
Silgjord was singled out because of his “outstanding commitment to public safety, innovative approaches to community policing and his ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for Sartell residents.”
He was also cited for strengthening the Sartell Police Department, fostering collaboration and trust among others and for proactive policing strategies attuned to the needs of the city and its residents.
Silgjord was also recognized for fostering partnerships between the police department and the city, implementing data-driven initiatives and promoting an inclusive, progressive police department.
“I am incredibly honored to receive this recognition from the IACP,” Silgjord said. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Sartell Police Department, as well as the trust and support of the Sartell community. Together, we are committed to making Sartell a safer and stronger place for all.”
The 2024 IACP “40 Under 40” award winners were selected from a pool of nominees representing law enforcement agencies from six countries. Silgjord and the other winners will be honored at the annual IACP conference later this year.
