The Sartell City Council has decided to consider interviewing at least one internal candidate for the job as the new city administrator.
The current administrator, Mary Degiovanni, recently announced she will retire, perhaps as early as this summer.
At the last council meeting, all council members agreed to first consider an internal hiring option rather than spending money to some firm for a wide search for a replacement.
The council specifically mentioned Anna Gruber as someone to be interviewed at city hall at an open public meeting set for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 5. Gruber, a Sartell resident, works as manager of planning solutions for Sourcewell, a Staples-based planning-services organization that partners with government entities, education and nonprofits. Sartell decided to contract with Sourcewell after the city’s planner and developer, Anita Archambeau, resigned last year.
Gruber, who is not on the city’s payroll, has been very active in city service, including being a member of the Sartell Planning Commission and currently a member of the city’s Economic Development Commission. She previously served for five years as the city administrator for Pierz.
