Many new developments in St. Joseph have been proposed or are now underway, accord- ing to the city’s administrator, Dave Murphy.
The following are some of the projects referred to by Mur- phy.
Community Center
After so many years of hop-
ing and planning, a St. Joseph Community Center is in full swing, being spearheaded by Kinetic Consulting of Kansas City. They have a wide variety of projects around the world. Kinetic comes to St. Joseph about twice a month. The pro- posed community center will be built on the old ball field, near the St. Joseph Government Center. People can can make contributions for the project at the city offices.
‘South Park’
River’s Bend Park is the name that has been chosen for the former “South Park,” locat- ed on the Sauk River next to Hwy. 121. Kayaking and walk- ing trails are currently avail- able, with some developments to begin later this summer. The subsequent project work will be finished in 2025.
When asked how the city gets ideas and suggestions for projects, needs and develop-
ments, Murphy said there are basically three types of input: internal city needs and annu- al goals; committee-generated suggestions, such as from the Park Board, the Planning Com- mission and the Economic De- velopment Authority; and resi- dents’ suggestions about needs and wants to improve and serve the community.
Contact Dave Murphy or the city office with your input.
