The Sartell City Council has approved a flat property tax rate once again for 2024.
A city news release about the flat-tax approval stated the following:
“The city council and city staff made a flat tax rate a top priority for our property owners, especially given another year of increased valuations. Since 2016, the City is proud to have held as close to 0 percent as possible, with an average of 0.32% increase in property tax rate per year.
“Even as Sartell grows, it continues to be the top priority of our team to maintain the safe and family-friendly community we all love, while sustaining the lowest city tax rate possible for our residents. With the strong growth in tax capacity in 2024, the city is continuing to build and restrict cash funds for road projects and vital equipment.
’Property taxes encompass three parts: city tax, school tax and county tax. The City of Sartell is keeping the city tax portion at a flat rate and does not have jurisdiction over the school or county tax. City property taxes are used for services such as streets, police and fire services, parks, snowplowing, community-center amenities, disability access and more. As noted below, Sartell continues to sustain a consistent and stable tax rate, with limited fluctuation, that is one of the lowest in the St. Cloud Region.

“Together we will continue to ensure the citizens of Sartell get the best value for their tax dollars and are able to continue to live in one of the most desirable communities in central Minnesota.
