Twenty-nine spectacular homemade quilts and one wall hanging will be on the auction block during the July 4 St. Joseph Parish Festival.
The quilt auction will take place at 1:30 p.m. that day inside the St. Joseph Catholic Church in the downtown area.
The quilts were made throughout the year by members of the St. Joseph Parish Quilt Group. They have been making the dazzling quilts for many years and then auctioning them off to raise money for the parish and its needs.
At the auction, there will displayed 21 queen-sized quilts, eight baby quilts and the one wall hanging. The large quilts include a Minnesota Twins quilt, a John Deere Tractor quilt, a Farmall Tractor quilt and a Harley Davidson quilt.
The quilt group is led by Delrose Fischer. Its other members are Geri Schwab, Betty Schloemer, Ilene Schmitt, Marilyn Brinkman, Ione Jacobs, Jeny Meyer, Linda Loso, Sharon Froehle, Suzie Mesna, DD Schulte, Mary Zinken, Deb Baron, Linda Heinen, Pat Henning and Lynn Valek.
Every Monday when those women are quilting in the Parish Hall, they receive meals cooked by friends and supporters Josh and Sara Salzer, Marlin Eich, Bonnie Gohmann, Pat Osborn, Mary Kay Kern, Shirly Miller and Irene Zierden.

This delightful child’s quilt is one of many quilts that will be up for auction at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on July 4.
