This year’s Education Done Differently event at Sartell schools will be “done differently” than past years.

Instead of one night at the Middle School, each school hosts a program and additional events have been added at each school.

Education Done Differently showcases how technology is a big part of a student’s learning.

The schedule:

• Sartell Middle School, Tuesday, April 30, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

• Pine Meadow Elementary School, Thursday, May 9, 3:30-6 p.m.

• Oak Ridge Elementary School, Tuesday, May 14, with times to be announced later.

In addition to students presenting how they use technology in the classroom, the schools expanded the programs.

At the Middle School, the additional events will be a book fair and arts show.

At Pine Meadow, an art fair and book sale has been added to the schedule.

At Oak Ridge, there will be a book fair.

The separate nights and extra events are an attempt to draw more people.

“This is a community event that shows the community what they are supporting,” said Director of Technology Kyle Breitkreutz. “You don’t need a student in the family to come.”

Students will present a variety of ways they use technology. For example at Pine Meadow, 5- and 6-year-olds will present what they’ve learned about coding. Fourth-graders are expected to show movie trailers created with iMovie about books they’ve read.

Other presentations will include robotics and more advanced iMovie creations.

Not only do the nights give students a chance to show off what they are learning but they also get a chance to talk in front of adults.

And Breitkreutz says, there will be some interactive activities for adults to get their hands on too.
