Sartell
Thank you to the educators and staff who make back-to-school possible each year! As a parent of a student in District 748, I am grateful for how their efforts allow children to learn among friends in one of the best school districts in the state.
On Nov. 5 we will have the opportunity to support our educators by electing to the Sartell-St. Stephen School Board three candidates who prioritize the real indicators of success within our district, rather than becoming derailed by over-fixation on enrollment numbers, mask policies or rehashing past resolved missteps.
Enrollment fluctuates naturally and, while important, doesn’t tell the whole story of student success. Let’s focus on here and now. Mask policies, though relevant during the pandemic, should not dominate our limited time and energy in 2024. And continuously revisiting how $80,000 was spent four years ago in a district whose operating budget is north of $40 million keeps us from moving forward. Those distractions take our focus off what really matters: academic achievement, student engagement and preparing our children for a rapidly evolving world.
Our district doesn’t benefit from those motivated by past grievances. Our district benefits from leaders motivated by the possibilities of what can be built and from those equipped with experience to get it done.
Our district is already great, and the candidates best prepared to remain focused on what matters to maintain and advance our high standards and achievements are Tricia Meling, Matt Moehrle and Chelsea Thielen.
