Local nursing-home residents will host an art show on Tuesday which has been nine months in the making.
The Good Shepherd Community is one of three facilities which received a grant to work with the Paramount Theatre on the ‘Art A La Carte’ program. This program brought an artist from the Paramount to Good Shepherd once a month for the past nine months to create art projects in various mediums with nursing-home residents. Mediums include print-making, watercolor, dance, clay and more.
“It’s been really fun to see them bloom in confidence . . . and see how proud they are of their accomplishments,” said Jodi Speicher, vice president of sales and marketing for Good Shepherd. “We submitted a few of the projects to the Benton County Fair and they received ribbons.”
The show will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Good Shepherd’s Event Center, 1115 Fourth Ave. N., Sauk Rapids (use the nursing-home entrance.)
‘Art A La Carte’ is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The exhibit will remain up through Nov. 30. To learn more about ‘Art Ala Carte,’ contact the Paramount at 320-257-3127.
