July 4 St. Joseph police blotter

April 22
9:27 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. Elm Street E./CR 133. While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle parked with a sign in the window that stated the starter was broken and they will be coming back for it tomorrow. Vehicle is not a hazard.

April 24
2:35 a.m. Suspicious vehicle. Jade Road. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle in the parking lot of Kennedy School. The officer found the vehicle unoccupied and no one in the area. They checked the exterior of the school and found it to be secure and nothing further suspicious.

April 26
10:21 p.m. Noise complaint. 20th Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to a noise complaint at the Vistas Apartments. The caller wanted to remain anonymous. Caller stated there were three men playing basketball on the basketball court. When the officer arrived, there was no one on or by the court.

April 28
4:42 a.m. Alarm. 15th Avenue NE. An officer was dispatched to an alarm at North Central Truck Accessories. They arrived on scene and saw trucks getting ready to deliver products. Spoke with an employee who said the guy who set it off just left and everything was OK.

April 30
10:32 a.m. Noise complaint. Minnesota Street W. Received a complaint of a dog barking. Observed what appeared to be a female white/tan dog on a leash barking consistently. Made contact with tenant, who acknowledged the dog was barking. Tenant advised he has two dogs. And he will be more aware of the barking. The officer advised he can be cited if this occurs again. Verbal warning for barking dog.

May 2
11:47 p.m. Medical. Birch Street W. Dispatched to a medical for a woman that was having muscle spasms. The officer spoke with the woman, gathered patient’s details before Rescue arrived on scene and took over patient care. Woman did not want to get transported by Mayo, so she signed off with rescue.

May 4
1:39 a.m. DUI. CR 75/Ridgewood Road. While on routine patrol an officer observed the only vehicle that was westbound traveling at what appeared faster than the posted speed limit of 60 mph. The officer stopped the vehicle, ran the driver through sobriety testing, and arrested the driver. Another officer stood by for safety. Once the driver was placed under arrest, the driver was allowed to shut the vehicle off, and grab his phone and wallet. All the windows were rolled up and locked.

May 10
2:49 a.m. Potential bodily harm. Minnesota Street E. Officers were dispatched for a knife call in regards to the same people from another incident. The complainant stated there was a man with a knife and coming after them, and there was a lot of yelling. Officers spoke with everyone and no one wanted to give statements of what happened. All parties separated; no arrests made.

May 12
8:16 a.m. Hit and run crash. 20th Avenue SE./CR 75. Driver was stopped for red light, another car rear-ended his. One driver pulled into Kwik Trip and said he believes the other driver kept driving east bound. He did not have a make, model, color or license plate of other vehicle. An officer took down complainant’s info and took some photos. No noticeable damage to his vehicle. He declined medical.

May 14
12:29 a.m. Noise complaint. College Avenue S. Complainant said tenants are up all hours pounding and making loud noises. The complainant says he thinks they are dealing drugs but never gave a clear reason why. The noise issue was not currently happening. The officer advised the complainant to let the property manager know and to contact St. Joseph Police when it’s happening to address the issue.

May 20
12:11 p.m. Harassment. Fourth Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to a harrassment complaint. Complainant said his woman friend is harassing him and threatening to report false things to his work to get him fired. She has been staying with him for a few weeks, and he is wanting her removed. Complainant said woman had lived at the residence for the same period of time as him and knows the owner of the rental property as well. The officer told him they cannot remove her due to her having residency. Complainant said he understands and is willing to grab his belongings to leave to avoid any conflict. He is worried the woman may make false accusations when she hears the news. He also stated she has grabbed knives and threatened to kill herself. Complainant is requesting a civil standby later this evening to gather some of his belongings. The officer explained to him to call the Stearns non-emergency line when he plans on coming home.

May 22
7:45 p.m. Suspicious activity. Minnesota Street E. Caller said a dark car was parked at a building and a man wearing dark clothing was looking in the window. Complainant works for a cleaning service for this building. He had keys to access the building.

May 24
12:21 a.m. Building check. CR 75 W. While on patrol, an officer located an unlocked door at Millstream Park. They cleared and secured the building.

May 28
8:11 a.m. Alarm. Hill Street W. Officers were dispatched for an alarm covering garage door. They arrived on scene, walked around the house and all doors and windows appeared secure. One of the officers was able to make contact via phone with homeowner who advised this is the second time and they must be having issues with the contact at the garage door. She advised she would have it looked at.

May 30
12:09 a.m. Burgarly. Ridgewood Road. Originally dispatched to a burglary at Linnco Inc. The complainant stated she observed two individuals on the cameras at 11:40 p.m. The officer arrived on scene and spoke with complainant, and reviewed video. It appears two juvenile men walked into an open shed, and then walked out. One of the men was wearing a white sweatshirt and black pants. The other man was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and dark pants. Officers and deputies checked the area and were unable to locate. A community request was sent to complainant to provide pictures of the individuals for possible identification.
