June 11
1:23 p.m. Crash. CR 120. Officers were nearing the CentraCare roundabout when they noticed two vehicles parked on the sidewalk. The officer approached and learned the drivers were in an accident. One of the drivers explained they were trying to get into the Plaza and didn’t realize they needed to be in the inside lane. The driver turned to go south and struck the other vehicle in the roundabout. Both drivers were uninjured, and the vehicles sustained minor damage. Officers helped with exchanging information.
June 12
7:42 p.m. Hazard. Officers responded to several hazard complaints following a strong storm that swept through the area. Multiple calls were received for downed trees and power lines. Officers helped direct traffic as public works and Xcel Energy worked to fix the issues because of the storm.
June 13
3:11 p.m. Driving complaint. 1109 First Street S. Police department received a driving complaint in the Bernick’s Arena parking lot. The caller reported a motorcycle was driving unsafely. The officer spoke with the driver who stated they had just bought the bike and was practicing wheelies. The driver thought he would be OK since the parking lot was empty but understood why someone would call. The driver gathered his things and left.
June 14
10:43 a.m. Theft. 100 Sartell St. E. Officers were dispatched to a theft on Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad property. An employee stated they found a lock had been cut from one of the sheds and several items were missing. Items taken include a pan heater, a counterweight, a pully, two gate arms and some copper wiring. The items were valued at $3,400.
June 15
2:25 p.m. Verbal dispute. Officers were called to a verbal dispute. The caller stated they had been arguing and she wanted to load some stuff in her car, but the other party wouldn’t let her. The caller was worried the other party would lock them out and break their things. The officer spoke to the other party and was told he needed to let her back in. The man explained he wasn’t going to do anything, and she was free to come and go.
June 16
10:19 p.m. Medical. 1029 Fifth St. N. Officers responded to a medical at Pine Meadow Elementary School. The caller stated her 14-year-old son fell and possibly dislocated his knee. Officers monitored the boy until Mayo arrived. The boy was taken to the hospital for his injury and officers cleared.
June 17
12:23 p.m. Fraud. The victim reported they received some threatening text messages from an unknown party. The suspect(s) stated the victim’s name was associated with an escort business and he owed money. The victim told officers he initially sent $3,000 through Venmo; however, the suspect(s) continues to threaten him and ask for more money. The victim stated they also sent $15,000 through Bitcoin and $4,000 through Western Union due to concerns of the severity of the threats. The victim later learned the suspect appeared to take the information off Facebook and never obtained any personal information. Officers advised if the suspect(s) called again to let them know he has reported it to law enforcement. The case was turned over to the investigators for any potential leads on where the money was sent.
