May 31
11 a.m. Traffic stop. 300 block of Riverside Avenue S. While parked and running stationary radar, an officer saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar indicated 50 mph in a posted 30-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and advised the driver the reason for the stop. The driver stated she didn’t know the speed limit. The driver was issued a citation for speed and released.
6:47 p.m. Shoplifter. 21 CR 120. An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of a male shoplifter. The officer arrived on scene and met with staff and the responsible male party. The male admitted to stealing a USB device valued at $39.88. The officer issued the male a citation for shoplifting and released him.
June 1
2:02 p.m. Medical. 1091 Second Street S. Officers were dispatched to Simple Escape Salon for an 80-year-old female client passing out. Upon officer arrival, the female patient was alert. Officers provided oxygen and monitored her condition until Gold Cross Ambulance arrived.
9:10 p.m. Intoxicated person. Perimeter Drive. Officers were dispatched to an intoxicated female who was unwanted. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who stated the female was from a group home and was visiting. She was no longer wanted in the home. The female agreed to go to the hospital due to her intoxication level and was transported by an officer.
June 2
8:37 a.m. Traffic stop. Pinecone Road N./12 Street N. While running stationary radar, an officer observed a vehicle westbound in the 800 block of Seventh Street N. traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the vehicle and advised the reason for the stop. The driver stated she was not from the area and provided a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. The officer issued the driver a verbal warning for the violation.
June 3
1 a.m. Medical. Davenport Court. Officers were dispatched for an elderly female with pain in her neck and back; she was also weak and vomiting. Officers arrived on scene along with Gold Cross Ambulance. Officers assisted paramedics as necessary. The female was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by ambulance.
4:47 p.m. Domestic. Pinecone Road N. Officers were dispatched for a verbal altercation between a husband and wife. Upon arrival officers met with both individuals. Both parties stated the altercation was over child-care issues. They also stated nothing physical had occurred. Officers observed no further issues.
June 4
2:44 p.m. DWI. City Of Sartell. While on routine patrol and traveling southbound on Highway 15, an officer observed a black passenger car traveling on a flat tire. The officer caught up with the vehicle as it pulled into a gas station. The officer made contact with the driver, who showed obvious signs of impairment. The driver was unable to successfully complete field sobriety testing and had a preliminary breath test of 0.275. The driver was arrested for third-degree DWI and was transported to the Benton County Jail without incident.
June 5
1:56 p.m. Alarm. Fifth Avenue N. Officers were dispatched to a residence for a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, officers met with a female party who identified herself as the homeowner. Officers cleared the house of any unwanted persons and found everything in order. Officers discovered the alarm may have been tripped by a curtain that was moved by a floor vent.
7:27 p.m. Medical. Connecticut Avenue S. Officers were dispatched to Perkins Restaurant for an 87-year-old female who was dizzy. Upon arrival, officers located the patient in a corner booth with her daughter. The female patient was pale, cool and clammy. Her daughter stated she was recently released from the hospital due to high blood pressure. An officer checked the patient’s carotid pulse and found it to be very weak. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and took over the assessment. Officers assisted as necessary.
June 6
5:57 p.m. Medical. 520 First Street NE. Officers were dispatched to Country Manor Health Care Center for a 90-year-old female who was unable to breathe. Officers arrived on scene and located the patient in her living room. She was shaking and breathing heavily. Officers had the female sit down on the couch and administered high-flow oxygen. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and took over the assessment. Officers assisted paramedics as necessary.
June 7
7:48 a.m. Welfare check. 221 22nd Street S. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex to check on a female in the second floor hallway who had fallen and appeared to be intoxicated. Upon arrival, officers located the woman and she appeared as though something wasn’t right. A witness told officers the woman was walking down the hallway and fell. She then started shaking for minutes and woke up when officers arrived. The female appeared to have difficulty speaking. She was unable to form sentences but denied any pain. She smelled of alcohol but her behavior was also consistent with seizure activity. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and officers assisted paramedics as necessary. The woman was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by ambulance.
4:53 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Pinewood Street. Officers were dispatched for a suspicious vehicle. Officers were notified the occupants of the vehicle were last seen entering the wooded area a few hours prior. Officers arrived on scene and located a male and female sleeping in the grass a few yards from the vehicle. Officers discovered the female party had a warrant out for her arrest. Upon search, a small baggy of what appeared to be methamphetamine was located in the female’s pocket. The female was also charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Stearns County Jail without incident.
June 8
10:45 a.m. Medical. 2251 Connecticut Avenue S. An officer was dispatched to HealthPartners for a report of an unresponsive female. The officer arrived on scene and met with the female patient. She was now conscious, but was groggy. The officer took health history and learned the female had passed out causing her blood pressure and oxygen levels to drop. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and the officer assisted with placing leads and loading the patient for transport to the St. Cloud Hospital.
8:40 p.m. Medical. 520 First Street NE. Officers were dispatched to Country Manor Health Care Center for a report of a 95- year-old male having trouble breathing. Officers arrived on scene and located the male patient in his resident room. Officers assisted the patient by providing high-flow oxygen. Officers monitored his condition until Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene. Officers assisted paramedics as necessary.
June 9
12:57 p.m. Domestic. Fifth Avenue E. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a report of a domestic in progress. The caller was reporting her brother was out of control and fighting with his mother. Officers were advised the male had left on foot prior to officers’ arrival on scene. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the male party. Officers made contact with the mother who stated the scuffle had occurred because of money being stolen from her car. She however didn’t wish to press charges. Officers advised her to call back if her son returned and things escalated.
5:48 p.m. Medical. 2-½ Street N. An officer was dispatched for a report of a female party possibly having a seizure. The officer arrived on scene and located the female patient standing up in the middle of the living room. The officer assisted in sitting the patient on the couch to obtain baseline vitals. The female appeared disoriented and was only able to tell the officer her name. The officer monitored her condition until Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene. The officer assisted paramedics as necessary.
June 10
2:56 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue N/Sartell Street W. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on CR 78 toward Riverside Avenue. Upon running the license plate through the computer, the officer found the registration was expired as of March 2017. The officer stopped the vehicle and advised the driver the reason for the stop. The driver was issued a citation for expired vehicle registration and was released.
7:28 p.m. Medical. 900 block of Riverside Avenue S. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a black Jeep pulled over on the side of the road. The officer made contact with the driver, who stated his son had heat exhaustion and just threw up. The officer had the juvenile slow his breathing and poured water on his neck and wrists. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and took over the assessment.
June 11
8:10 p.m. Medical. Brianna Drive. An officer was dispatched for a report of a female who had fallen and dislocated her hip. While enroute, the officer was advised the female had been on the ground for an extended period of time and was unable to unlock the door. Upon arrival, the officer observed the woman through the window of the door laying on her right side. The female advised all doors and windows were locked. The officer confirmed the residence was secure. Paramedics arrived on scene and the officer proceeded with verbal permission from the homeowner to break the window on the door to gain access to the patient. The officer then assisted paramedics with loading the patient for transport to the St. Cloud Hospital.
11:54 p.m. Traffic stop. First Street NE/Benton Drive. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling east on Second Street S. that didn’t have a license-plate light. The officer proceeded to stop the vehicle for the violation. The driver was identified by name and date of birth as the registered owner. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, the driver hesitated. The officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle and conducted a search. The officer located two marijuana grinders, three marijuana pipes and multiple empty clear plastic baggies containing marijuana residue. All items were seized and entered into evidence. The driver was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and was warned for other violations.
June 12
5:12 a.m. Assist agency. CR 1. A Sartell Officer assisted a Stearns County Deputy with a traffic stop involving a hit-and-run driver. The officer stood by for officer safety as the deputy conducted his investigation. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, no Minnesota Driver’s license, no proof of insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.
11:31 p.m. Traffic stop. 116 Evergreen Drive. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in front of him. The officer ran the vehicle registration and discovered the registered owner had a suspended license and a warrant out for his arrest. The description of the registered owner matched the driver so the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was advised the reason for the stop and stated he was the registered owner. The officer informed the driver he also had a warrant out for his arrest. The driver was arrested without incident and transported to the Stearns County Jail.
June 13
1:20 a.m. Intoxicated person. 10th Street N. Officers responded to a residence and found a female party who was belligerent and very intoxicated. She became uncooperative and began to spit at officers. While escorting her out of the house in handcuffs, she kicked an officer in the shin bone of his left leg. She was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault.
7:33 a.m. Medical. 27th Street N. Officers were dispatched to assist the county with a medical involving an unresponsive 55- year-old male. Upon arrival, officers found the patient semi-responsive, intoxicated and possibly having diabetic issues. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and found his blood sugar was fine. The male submitted to a preliminary breath test, which indicated 0.285 on a poor sample. The male was transported to Detox without issue.
June 14
10:23 a.m. Domestic. 136 Twin Rivers Court. Officers were dispatched to Twin River Tire and Auto for a domestic in the parking lot. An officer responded to verify the parties were separated. Upon arrival, the officer met with the female party in the parking lot. The female stated she got into a verbal dispute with her husband. She stated her husband left in his vehicle. She stated nothing physical had occurred and she didn’t wish to pursue charges.
12:23 p.m. Agency assist. Majestic Pond Drive. An officer was dispatched to assist Stearns County on a medical. The officer arrived on scene and observed the patient to be hyperventilating. The officer had the patient breathe with her to slow his breathing. The patient denied any chest pain or any additional medical problems. The officer started low- flow oxygen when the patient’s breathing was slowed. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene and the officer assisted paramedics as necessary.
June 15
9:25 a.m. Traffic stop. 300 block of Riverside Avenue S. While on routine patrol. an officer initiated radar and received a reading of 49 mph in a posted 40-mph zone. The officer proceeded to stop the vehicle for the offense. The officer advised the driver of the reason for the stop and she stated she didn’t know she was speeding. The driver was issued a citation for speed and released.
5:55 p.m. Welfare check. Fourth Street N. Officers were dispatched for a male party having thoughts of self-harm. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the male. The man admitted to taking more than prescribed medications. After talking with the officers, the man agreed to go to the hospital to be evaluated. He was transported by an officer without incident.
June 16
5:33 a.m. Vandalism to vehicle. 23rd Avenue N. An officer was dispatched to a residence to take a report of damage done to a vehicle. The officer arrived on scene and met with the owner of the vehicle. The owner stated the tires of his vehicle were slashed sometime during the night prior. The officer took photos of the damage and was able to lift a print from the front driver’s side fender. The incident is under investigation.
2:58 p.m. Vehicle accident. Pinecone Road S. An officer was dispatched for a vehicle accident involving two pickup trucks. The officer arrived on scene and met with both drivers who said they were fine and didn’t need any medical attention. Both vehicles were northbound on Pinecone Road, approaching Scout Drive intersection. The intersection has a two-lane roundabout. Vehicle one was in the inside lane, while vehicle two was in the outside lane. Vehicle one took the turn around the roundabout too wide striking vehicle two in the rear driver’s-side quarter panel. Photos of the damage were taken and both drivers were issued an accident-exchange form.
June 17
1:32 p.m. Medical. Pinecone Road N. An officer was dispatched for a report of an 87-year-old male having chest pain. The officer arrived on scene and met with the male patient. He stated he had taken Nitro, but still had pain. The officer administered high-flow oxygen and monitored the man’s condition until Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene. Upon paramedic’s arrival, the officer assisted as necessary.
11:12 p.m. Medical. Lowell Lane. An officer was dispatched for a report of an elderly female who had fallen. Upon arrival, the officer met with the patient who said she was washing some garments in the back bathroom when she believed she passed out and fell to the floor. She stated the back of her head and knees hurt. The officer checked the back of her head and observed no marks or bumps. Gold Cross Ambulance arrived and took over care. The female was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.
June 18
10:05 a.m. Traffic stop. Riverside Avenue S./CR 78. While on routine patrol and southbound on Riverside Avenue, near Michael’s Court, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer activated front-facing radar and received a reading of 52 mph in a posted 30-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver. the officer advised the reason for the stop. The driver stated she was late and was not paying attention to her speed. The driver didn’t have her driver’s license on her and didn’t have valid proof of insurance. The officer issued a citation for speed and verbally warned the driver for the other violations.
3:32 p.m. Shoplifter. 21 CR 120. Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a shoplifting in progress. Prior to arrival, officers were advised the male suspect had left the store on foot. Officers stopped the male in the parking lot of McDonald’s. Upon speaking with the male, officers discovered he also had an active warrant for his arrest. The male was arrested for the warrant; while conducting a search an officer located a small amount of meth and stolen items from Walmart. The male was transported to the Stearns County Jail without incident.
June 19
2:49 p.m. Medical. Greenwood Lane. Officers were dispatched for a report of a 69-year-old male having difficulty breathing. Officers arrived on scene and met with the male party. The male stated he was having difficulty breathing for approximately two hours. Officers checked the man’s vitals and they were good. Officers provided oxygen and monitored the man’s condition until Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene. Officers assisted with loading the patient for transport to the St. Cloud Hospital.
June 20
6:08 a.m. Traffic stop. 15th Street S./Pine Siskin Avenue. While on routine patrol and running stationary radar on Pinecone Road S. just south of 15 Street S., an officer observed a vehicle traveling south on Pinecone Road at a high rate of speed. The officer activated his radar and received a reading of 77 mph on a posted 45-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer advised the reason for the stop. The driver admitted to speeding and provided a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. The driver was cited for speed and released.
July 2
Medical. Sauk River. Deputies Gina Feldewerd, Eric Schultz, Andrew Struffert and Sergeant Steve Noetzel responded to the report of an unresponsive kayaker on Sauk River near the Heim’s Mill area. The caller, who lives alongside the river, observed the kayaker capsize then get back into his kayak. Once back in his kayak, he appeared to become unconscious. The caller reported he was with another female kayaker who could not revive him. Another kayaker came upon the scene and assisted with the stranded parties. Sartell Police, Sartell Fire and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the call. The passing kayaker was able to assist the rescue effort by catching a ResQ Disc thrown to him. He tied it onto the kayak of the unresponsive male and was able to walk to the opposite shore while rescuers pulled on the rope. The unresponsive male was identified as Richard Stolpman. He was treated on scene and transported to the St. Cloud Hospital. The incident was due to a medical problem. The assisting person was identified as Steven Cole.
