It was a rough evening June 12 for the St. Joseph American Legion Team as they took on the Albany Legion team and got trounced after playing solid ball for the first three innings.
St. Joseph was able to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, and they managed to hold the lead through the third inning. Albany managed to put up one run in the third and then added to the score in the fourth inning.
“We were in good shape until about the fourth or fifth inning when we made a couple of errors and things just sort of snowballed from there,” said St. Joseph Legion Coach Caz Novak. “We kind of collapsed after we made a few errors and went down hill from there.”
St. Joseph pulled their starting pitcher Nick Foss with the game still within reach as St. Joseph trailed 5-2. St. Joseph came back and scored one run in the bottom of the fifth, but the bottom fell out in the sixth and seventh innings when Albany managed to put up six more runs winning 11-2 over St. Joseph.
Thus far St. Joseph has no wins and two losses for the season. St. Joseph is scheduled to play Kimball at home on Monday, June 19.

Nick Foss threw three good innings but ran into problems in the fifth inning. Here Foss shows his strong arm as he fires a strike in the third inning.

Shortstop Kevin Stark-Haws puts the tag on as an Albany runner tried to steal second in the third inning.
