A “Living Memory” event celebrating Stearns County settlers and the county’s many Century Farms will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at the Rolling Ridge Wedding & Event Center in St. Joseph.
The celebratory occasion, prepared by the Stearns County History Museum, is called “Living Memory: A Century Farms Event.”
A Century Farm is one that has been in the same family’s lineage for at least 100 years. There are hundreds of such historic farms in Stearns County, including several many in the St. Joseph area. The event will also be a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Pioneer Settlers Association, the first generation of immigrant families to gather history for succeeding generations.
At “Living Memory,” area artisans will make and show arts and crafts from pioneer history as visitors enjoy the ambiance of a historic century farm in springtime.
The event costs $50 per ticket, which includes a drink ticket, hors d’oeuvres and a collectible print created by Bruno Press of St. Joseph.
All proceeds will go to the Stearns History Museum and the Pioneer Settlers Association for their work in preserving pioneer history.
Purchase tickets by May 12. To get tickets, visit the museum’s website at StearnsHistoryMuseum.org or call 320-253-8424.
The featured artisans at the event will be the following:
Mary Bruno, letterpress printing, Bruno Press; Desi Murphy, pottery; Heidi Jeub, book-binder; Jess Meischesner, paper-making; Jeri Olson-McCoy, weaving; Doug LaBorde, blacksmithing; Jeremy Waara, of Transcendent Custom Cooperage; Chris Schellinger, woodworking; Anna Neils; spinning and fiber arts; Breanna Rhodes, printmaking; and Liz Fiedler, Sunny Mary Meadows Farm, St. Joseph.
