Dec. 11
06:34 a.m. Crash. CR 121/Jade Road. An officer was dispatched to a crash at the intersection. Car 1 was traveling south on CR 121. Car 2 was traveling north on CR 121. car 2 turned left onto Jade Road in front of car 1 and was struck by car 1. Damage to the front end of car 1 and damage to the right rear of car 2. Air bags deployed on both vehicles. Photos taken.

Dec. 12
02:11 a.m. Suspicious activity. Fourth Avenue NW. While on routine patrol, an officer observed lights on at the residence which was a snowbird house. It was documented no one was supposed to be home until Dec. 24 and no lights on. Waite Park Police assisted in perimeter and coming to the door. After knocking, the homeowner came to the door and stated he came home early. The officer ID’d the man who was the homeowner.

Dec. 13
10:36 p.m. Suspicious vehicle. Sartell. While on Toward Zero Deaths duty, a driving complaint was reported in Sartell. St. Joseph and Sartell officers located the vehicle unoccupied. They did not locate the driver, and eventually cleared.

Dec. 14
4:45 p.m. Medical. Elm Street W. The victim had fallen while getting out of her truck and could not get up. Mayo ambulance arrived along with St. Joseph Fire and they were able to get the victim standing and seated into her wheelchair. Victim stated no injuries so all units cleared.

Dec. 16
10:12 a.m. Medical. Minnesota Street W. An officer was dispatched to a medical. Complainant slipped and fell on the ice outside. Officers arrived on scene and obtained patient information. Rescue arrived on scene and assisted in getting complainant off the ground. Mayo arrived on scene and took over care. Officer was cleared by Mayo.

Dec. 17
4:48 p.m. Fire. Colman Court. Masonry workers had started a fire to keep sand warm overnight. The fire had flames and was not being watched. The company was contacted and the fire was put out.

Dec. 18
6:09 a.m. Dump. Millstream Park. An officer saw several pieces of furniture dumped down by the softball fields. Located on the inside of an arm chair was a tag with a name on it. Officer sent an email to city maintenance.

Dec. 21
5:31 a.m. Medical. Seventh Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to a lift assist. Officer arrived and was able to get the woman to her feet along with staff.

Dec. 22
11:48 p.m. Animal complaint. CR 75/20th Avenue SE. Complainant reported there was a deer that needed to be dispatched. Officer who arrived on scene said complainant stated he did not hit the deer, and he did not want it. Officer dispatched the deer. After that, another driver saw the deer and wanted a permit. Another officer wrote that driver a deer permit, and said to keep the permit with the deer meat.

Dec. 24
7:42 p.m. Animal complaint. CR 133/15th Avenue NE. Complainant reported a dog that was hit by a vehicle. Officer arrived on scene and spoke with the driver who said he was driving when a dog jumped out of the ditch in front of his vehicle. The dog was dead upon officer’s arrival and they were able to obtain owner information from the collar. Officer called the owner and informed her of the dog’s death. She stated the dog ran away from a residence in St. Joseph around 9 a.m. and they had been looking for the dog. They loaded up the dog.

Dec. 25
8:27 p.m. Alarm. Neighbors Route 75. An officer was dispatched to an alarm that covered the exterior mechanical room door. It should be noted, the officer had just checked the business and had located the unlocked door. The room appeared to not lead into the business. The rest of the perimeter was secure. The alarm company was not able to make contact with a key holder.

Dec. 26
10:16 a.m. Suspicious activity. 21st Avenue NE. Complainant reported footprints going around the building and it appeared they led to some doors as if someone was trying to get into the building. Complainant said it happened sometime between Monday night and today. Officer told complainant that foot patrol building checks occurred around 11 p.m. the previous night and it was possibly officers were checking on the building. He appreciated the building check and thanked the officers for what they do.

Dec. 27
2:22 p.m. Information call. First Avenue NW. An officer was dispatched to a matter of info call. Dispatch said the fire hydrant behind Subway was blowing water into the street. Officer arrived on scene and observed an attachment was hooked up to the hydrant and appeared to be intentional. Officer spoke with city maintenance and they were aware of the hydrant and were the ones that had it on to flush it out.

Dec. 29
4:01 p.m. Stalled vehicle. CR 2/CR 75. An officer was dispatched to a stall blocking intersection. Officer responded and due to fog provided lights so stall would no get struck. Officer found the vehicle in the left turn lane facing southbound on College Avenue N. and CR 75. Officer was told the vehicle was making ticking sounds and then stalled out. Officer was told driver called AAA which had Collins Brothers Towing enroute. Officer provided lights until the vehicle was towed away.

Jan. 1
12:30 a.m. Noise complaint. Cypress Drive. Complainant asked resident to turn music down. Officers arrived on scene and could hear the music down the hall. They advised the resident of the noise ordinance and he understood and said he would turn it down. One of the officers spoke with the complainant and stated if noise continues to talk with management.

Jan. 2
8:06 a.m. Speeding. College Avenue S. While on patrol, an officer observed a car that appeared to be traveling faster than the posted speed limit. Officer activated radar which indicated vehicle was traveling 46 mph in a 30-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop and told driver reason for stop. Officer asked driver for her license which she provided and proof of insurance. Officer also observed expired tabs which officer later confirmed on their computer. Officer advised driver she was going 46 mph in a 30-mph zone and they would be issuing a citation. Driver argued saying she was not going that fast. The officer issued and a citation for speeding and gave verbal warning for others. It should be noted the radar was checked prior to and after stop and found to be working properly.

Jan. 3
12:03 a.m. Open door. Bennett Transportation. While officers were on a foot patrol, an open door in back was found at Bennett Transportation. Officers checked the business and all other doors were locked inside. The rear exterior door was locked but did not appear to be shut all the way. Officers were able to secure the rear door.

Jan. 4
8:46 a.m. Medical. The Oaks on 20th Avenue SE. An officer was dispatched to a medical for a woman with shortness of breath. Officer applied oxygen after arriving on scene. Rescue and Mayo later arrived on scene and took over patient care.

Jan. 5
Noon. Vehicle damage. Schneider Drive. An officer was asked to contact a driver regarding damage to his trailer. He was not on scene at the time of the call. Officer was delayed due to a medical. Then, they attempted to call driver multiple times and left him a message. Negative contact. Officer went to the residence and no vehicles were present. Negative contact.

Jan. 6
6:50 p.m. Found property. Callaway Street E. During an interview in regards to a complaint Dec. 3, a woman forgot her jacket in the interview room. The officer was aware a message had been left with the woman to come and pick up her jacket but she never came in. Officer dropped off the jacket with the woman and she signed a property receipt acknowledging she received it.

Jan. 9
12:08 a.m. Fake ID. Kwik Trip West. An officer was dispatched to assist employees with a man who passed a fake ID. Officer arrived on scene, was given the fake ID as evidence, and spoke with the complainant. Officer was able to find suspect through a previous banking application in which the photo, the address, the name, and the day and month of the date of birth matched the fake ID. The officer attempted to call suspect and he did not answer. The officer is waiting on video from Kwik Trip. Will complete case report after they receive video.

Jan. 10
4:36 p.m. Trespass. Magnifi Financial. St. Joseph Police Department received a trespass notice from Magnifi Financial which states the suspect is not allowed to enter any Magnifi Financial locations. Documentation only at this time.
