Feb. 2
12:54 p.m. Threats. Hickory Court. Officers arrived on scene and met with the complainant. Officers determined no threats took place. Verbal altercation in the complainant’s driveway between complainant and suspect. Explained the HRO process to complainant. Attempted contact with suspect at his residence. Made contact with the suspect’s partner. She said her husband was not home. Advised her of the complaint. She provided suspect’s contact info. Attempted to call and speak with him. Call went directly to voicemail. Left a message.
Feb. 3
10:33 a.m. Neighbor dispute. Hickory Court. Officers were dispatched to a neighbor dispute. Complainant reported her neighbor across the street was walking his dogs back and forth in front of her house and letting the dogs onto her property. She said she opened the door and asked him to keep the dogs off her property. He yelled obscenities at her and said he knows where her grandkids live. She showed the officer a video of him being crude. A similar incident happened yesterday. She said after she returned yesterday he was pacing back and forth in front of her house giving her the finger. She did not report that second incident from yesterday until today. She said the incident today occurred about five minutes prior to calling and that he went back into his house. Complainant said she will be applying for an harassment restraining order tomorrow. Officers attempted contact with the neighbor. He had a loud speaker playing music set up outside. He would not answer the door. Officer sat in the area for about a half hour to see if he would come back outside. He did eventually come outside. Officer attempted a conversation with him. He was very uncooperative, loud and verbal. He made numerous references to his military service in the Marines and the amount of lives he has taken and kept demanding St. Joseph police talk to the complainant again to see what was going on. An officer spoke with her and advised her to not delay with the HRO and officers stood by until she left safely.
Feb. 5
5:19 p.m. Warrant arrest. Second Avenue NW. Dispatched to a warrant attempted at Kwik Trip west. It was reported suspect had warrants, and was last seen driving east on CR 75, from Kwik Trip west. Officers headed eastbound on CR 75 to try and locate the vehicle. St. Cloud Sheriff’s Officer advised he observed the vehicle at Division Street and 10th Avenue in Waite Park. The vehicle then turned into Kwik Trip in Waite Park. When on scene, one of the officers observed the vehicle go around a deputy. The vehicle then drove toward their squad car, and left the parking lot. The officer observed the vehicle going north on 10th Avenue S., activated their emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle continued to drive until it stopped in the parking lot of 10th Avenue S. Suspect was taken into custody.
Feb. 6
1:21 p.m. Damaged vehicle. Jade Road. Officer was dispatched to Kennedy Community School for a hit-and-run accident. Officer arrived and met with complainant who said she parked her car at 11:15 a.m. and came back at 1:15 p.m. She noticed her mirror folded in with the cover broke off. Officer took photos. Gathered her information. Checked with principal and due to snow/wind cars no cameras available to catch anything. Complainant said she parked next to a blue car. Advised this information to staff and they advised they would keep an eye out for any information. Will update if new information received. Officer looked up what it would cost to replace the mirror cover and found that a new cover can be bought for $20 to $60. Called complainant back and relayed information of their findings.
Feb. 7
1:59 p.m. Unwanted person. Jade Road. St. Joseph police received a call from Principal Anna Willhite from Kennedy requesting an officer because a man she had never met before showed up at school wanting to see his child he has not had contact with in almost three years. Willhite advised the man walked out the door using profanities and was angry. Willhite advised the child’s guardian was enroute to pick up the child and wanted officers to be there in case the man was still on scene. Officers arrived and one of them went into the school to ensure safety inside. Officer advised he located the man at entryway of school parking lot. The other officer met with Willihite and it was determined they would have a meeting with all of them. Officer escorted the man into the building and he was cooperative and calm. Officer explained his behavior is unacceptable in this setting and explained school is not a visitation place, it’s a place of learning. He agreed. Officer explained the school was looking at trespassing him, and he apologized for his behavior.
Feb. 8
2:02 a.m. Vehicle in ditch. CR 75/12th Avenue NE. While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle in the ditch in the center median at CR 75 and CR 133. Driver wanted a tow but did not care which. Driver stated he slipped and slid into the ditch. Towing service arrived and pulled the vehicle out. No injuries.
Feb. 10
11:03 a.m. Dumping. Ridgewood Road. Officer was dispatched to a dumping complaint at Larry’s Trucking. Officer met with the complainant and he directed them to the area. He said there are no cameras on property. He said the dumping occurred sometime between Friday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 9. He provided the officer with a piece of mail that was located. Officer began to dig through the trash and found numerous business documents and checks, found the owners business had been burglarized multiple times in December 2024 in St. Cloud. Officer spoke with St. Cloud police. She advised she would respond. St. Cloud police officer arrived on scene and the officer provided her with the documents they had and informed her there were numerous others still in the trash bag they did not remove. St. Cloud police remained on scene looking for other items of evidence. Told complainant the name of the party on the documents was a crime victim and not the suspect of the dumping.
Feb. 11
7:48 a.m. Crash. Second Avenue NW/Minnesota Street W. Officer was dispatched to a report of a crash. Complainant reported his vehicle was parked and someone backed into it. Arrived on scene and gathered info.
Feb. 12
12:37 p.m. Faulty equipment. Minnesota Street E./Second Avenue NE. Stopped car leaving a residence for a broken taillight. Driver was the registered owner. Verbal warning.
Feb. 13
8:34 p.m. Suicide attempt. Ellie Court. Officers were dispatched to a suicide in progress. A caller reported her husband had hung himself, but she was able to cut him down. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the man who had labored shallow breathing and a faint pulse. Medical aid was provided to the man who was transported to the hospital.
Feb. 14
7:16 p.m. Overdose. Schneider Drive. St. Joseph police officers were dispatched to an overdose. The complainant stated a 54-year-old woman may have taken too many of her medications. Arrived on scene and woman was sluggish, and had a hard time balancing. Officers obtained her info while rescue and Mayo were enroute. Rescue and Mayo arrived on scene and took over patient care. Mayo transported her to the hospital.
Feb. 15
3:59 a.m. Alarm. College Avenue N. Units were dispatched to an alarm at the LaPlayette. While enroute they received proper code to cancel.
Feb. 16
12:38 a.m. Public urination. Minnesota Street W. While on routine patrol, officer went south on the alley near the Middy and observed a man urinating next to the small white shed. Spoke with the man who admitted he knew it was illegal to urinate in public. The man was cooperative and stated he just couldn’t wait to get to Sal’s to do it. Man was issued a citation.
Feb. 17
11:48 p.m. Assist. Iverson Street W. Officer dispatched to a lift assist. Victim was walking when his right leg went numb and he fell. Officers assisted person off the ground. No complaints of pain.
Feb. 18
3:19 p.m. Deer permit. Westwood Parkway/CR 133. Officer was dispatched to a deer permit. The complainant was waiting in his vehicle for a permit. Permit was issued.
Feb. 19
3:31 p.m. Crash with injuries. CR 75/12th Avenue NE. A pickup was traveling eastbound on CR 75. A snowmobile was crossing CR 75 east of 12th Avenue NE. The snowmobile failed to yield for the pickup, and a crash resulted. The snowmobile driver was transported by Mayo ambulance. The pickup driver was evaluated and released by Mayo ambulance.
Feb. 20
3:59 p.m. Alarm. CR 75 E. Officer was dispatched to a fire alarm at Gohman Construction. False alarm. Canceled while en route.
Feb. 21
4:14 p.m. Welfare check. Eighth Avenue SE. The complainant requested a welfare check on his brother. Officer arrived on scene and his brother was not there. Called to update him and he told the officer he had now made contact with his brother and everything was fine.
Feb. 23
3:39 a.m. Illegal parking. 10th Avenue SE. Theisen called in stating there was a gray SUV parked in front of his apartment building. He said he just wanted to let us know because they shouldn’t be parked there due to winter parking. Officer advised they were aware and it was taken care of.
Feb. 24
12:21 a.m. Non-functioning traffic light. CR 75/CR 133. While on patrol, officer observed the semaphore lights were flashing red in all directions. Officer then observed a pole in the median on the west side the intersection was laying on the ground and damaged. The pole holds the semaphore to turn left off of westbound CR 75 on to 12th Avenue NE. The pole also holds a semaphore for traffic going southbound across CR 75 from CR 133. The pole appeared to be damaged at the base, possibly from a hit and run. There were no fresh tracks on the cement near the base of the pole. It is unknown when the damage occurred. Several photos of the damaged pole were taken. Officer spoke with an individual associated with the semaphore lights and informed him the damaged pole was not a hazard. It was decided they would fix the pole in the morning.
Feb. 25
1:27 p.m. Illegal soliciting. Able Street E. Complainant called St. Joseph police to report a man who came up to his door and rang his doorbell, walked to the side of his house then left. Complainant learned there are two individuals who are walking door to door soliciting. Officer attempted to located the individuals with negative contact. Due to complainant being on vacation in another state, officer checked all the doors and windows to his house. All were secure. There is no active permits at this time.
Feb. 26
4:37 p.m. Assist. College Avenue S. The complainant stated he lost his Airpods, and they were now tracking at an address in Wisconsin. Complainant said he called the Wisconsin police where the Airpods are at, and they advised him to make the initial report with St. Joseph police. Complainant said he last had possession of the Airpods on Feb. 21. He provided the officer with the serial number. They had dispatch enter the Airpods as stolen. Unknown suspect at this time.
Feb. 27
8:16 p.m. Driving complaint. I-94. Officers overheard a driving complaint on westbound I94 at mile marker 161. The complainant stated the vehicle took the 160 exit, but did not know which way it went from there. St. Joseph police officers were in the area at the time of the call and did not locate the vehicle. The vehicle was described as a gray hatchback with Minnesota plates. One officer checked south on CR 2, and another one checked the Park N Ride, as well as the gas stations in town. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
Feb. 28
12:11 a.m. Extra patrol. Fourth Avenue NW. Extra patrol request. Owners are gone from Feb. 28 to March 25. They do have a light on inside on a timer from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The keyholder will check on the property. Email sent to staff.
