Nov. 15 public forum set on Clean Energy
The Central Minnesota Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby along with the League of Women Voters, St. Cloud Area, will co-host a public forum “Clean Energy and Climate Action: Good News for Minnesota!” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 in the Mississippi Room, Great River Regional Library, St. Cloud. The event will feature guest speaker J. Drake Hamilton, managing director of science policy at Fresh Energy and an expert in climate and energy at the state and national levels. Both sponsors are non-partisan, non-profit political advocacy organizations. Bring questions for a Q&A session after the speaker.
Winter parking rules in effect til April 1
In St. Joseph, there is no parking on any city street from 2-7 a.m. now through April 1, to allow for snow removal. Vehicles that violate this rule may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. The city will declare a snow emergency and may lift the overnight ban if there has been no snowfall or icy conditions requiring plowing.
Suicide prevention offers text messaging helpline
The National Alliance on Mental Illness offers a nationwide SMS/text message support option. Young people experiencing a crisis prefer texting. 62640 connects to the NAMI Helpline and is available to all. Text “HELPLINE” TO 62640 for mental health support between 9 a.m.-9 p.m. CST Monday-Friday. This free, peer-support service provides information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members and caregivers, mental health providers and the public.
