July 17
4:36 p.m. Illegal substance. Dale Street E. Officers were dispatched to a suspect at Klinefelter Park. Arrived on scene and observed the women’s restroom door locked. Did not smell anything until the door was pushed open a tad and the air escaped. No one was inside, was able to get door open. Washed blunt in the sink. Thrown in the garbage. Aired out the bathroom. No suspects around.
July 20
3:39 p.m. Suspicious activity. Gumtree Street E. A complainant called to report a man in his 50s wearing blue shirt, baseball hat and khaki shorts was taking photos of his house. The man stated he was there to take photos of the hail damage and thought he was taking photos of the neighbor’s home. Complainant wanted this documented due to it suspicious nature.
July 22
2 a.m. Noise complaint. College Avenue S. Officer was dispatched to a loud party at Luetmer apartments on St. Ben’s campus. Walked up and a woman slammed the door and ran up the stairs. Officer contacted St. Ben’s security to come to their location. After some time, suspect came back and opened the door. She was belligerent and seemed intoxicated. A visiting woman said she was visiting and was cooperative. St. Ben’s security arrived and assisted. The officer issued a verbal warning for noise violation.
July 24
4:44 p.m. Verbal. Minnesota Street W. Police office received a call of a verbal at the park-and-ride. The caller stated two people were yelling at each other. An officer responded, arrived on scene and spoke with the woman and man. A harassment order between them was recently removed, and they are trying to become friends, but were arguing about unfaithfulness in the past. The officer mediated and the man eventually left. Nothing physical, and no threats.
July 27
5:14 a.m. Suspicious package. CR 75 W. While on foot patrol at Millstream Park, an officer found a cardboard package strapped to a picnic table with the words, “do not move or open” on it. Another unit arrived on scene while the officer moved and opened it. Nothing found inside.
July 28
2:53 p.m. Unwanted person. Second Avenue NW. Officers arrived on scene. A man was immediately verbal and went in and talked to staff at Kwik Trip. They asked he be removed from the property. He wanted to ask people for money; officer told him not to until he was done talking to him and man called the officer racist. The man left after being asked.
July 30
12:56 p.m. Theft from vehicle. Minnesota Street E. Officer was dispatched to a theft from vehicle. Spoke with the owner who stated he was at Riverside Park in St. Cloud when he noticed his rear tabs were missing from the vehicle. No known suspects at this time. Tabs were entered into NCIC as stolen. Tabs valued at $150.
Aug. 2
2:08 a.m. Animal complaint. Second Avenue NE. An officer was dispatched to complainant who said someone came to his house, grabbed a dead squirrel out of his yard that his roommate’s cat had killed and put it in his truck. He removed it and threw it back in the yard. Someone came back a few minutes ago and put the dead squirrel inside of his sister’s car. Complainant said he disposed of the squirrel properly. Officer checked the area and found the suspected cat and possibly its next victim, Mr. Rabbit.
Aug. 4
8:22 a.m. Suspicious activity. CR 75 E. An officer was dispatched to an alarm at Neighbors Route 75, and could see the business at the time of the call. They were getting a food delivery. All was OK.
9:54 p.m. CR 75/CR 134. While an officer was on a traffic stop, a black sedan was driving in the far-right lane while officer had emergency lights and driver had room to move over. Officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver said she knew she was stopped for speeding and also said she did not move over due to being in a hurry to get home. The plates on the vehicle were registered to another vehicle. The driver said she bought the vehicle from St. Cloud Toyota dealership and these were her second plates due to getting wrong ones already. The officer issued the driver a citation for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle, explained the citation, and she said she understood. The officer seized the plates on the vehicle due to them not being for that vehicle and advised the driver to get new ones from the dealership or the DMV.
