photo by MaryAnne Block A barn, such as this one, the Alan Gratzell farm on CR 51, represents the heart of a farm, just as the kitchen does the heart of a home. Cows and calves, hay and grain, horses and sheep and chickens and hogs found protection and provision over the years, thanks to the hard work of the farmer. Many barns still stand in silent tribute to the rich agricultural heritage of the St. Joseph area.
