Sartell residents are welcome to submit an application to join the next Metro Citizens Police Academy, which will run from 6-10 p.m. every Thursday from Sept. 5 to Oct. 24 at the St. Cloud Police Department.
The annual academy is an eight-week course in which participants learn about police work and have a chance to experience many aspects of it. The classes are similar to actual police-training courses. Police Academy is strictly an informational course and does not give participants the right to act as officers away from the classes.
Other cities involved with the Police Academy are St. Joseph, Sauk Rapids, Waite Park and St. Cloud. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and have no criminal record.
