The Sartell Police Department is looking for a man who attempted to steal a vehicle in the Sam’s Club parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

About 3:14 p.m. a driver was in his truck speaking on a cell phone when a man approached him, knocked on the window and asked for a ride. When the driver said he was on the phone, the suspect then said the driver had just backed in to the suspect’s truck.

When the driver became suspicious and exited his truck, the suspect attempted to enter it. The driver pulled the suspect from the truck and then the suspect ran across CR 120 and into the woods.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds. He was wearing a black stripped flannel shirt, blue jeans and a black stocking cap.

Police released surveillance photos and hope someone who may have seen him came identify the suspect.

Any information can be provided to the Sartell Police Department at 320-251-8186 or Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 800-255-1301.
