High Water Levels
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office encourages boaters when recreating over the coming days and weeks please keep in mind the significant amount of rain we have received recently. We are requesting you take into consideration lake levels, your speeds and how they affect private and public property surrounding the lake you are on.
Areas historically prone to quick changes in lake levels are the entire Cold Spring-Richmond/Horseshoe Chain of Lakes, North Browns Lake, Koronis Lake, Rice Lake and Two Rivers Lake. Boaters are asked to be mindful of their wakes to reduce the chance of damaging private and public property.
Additionally, lake levels in the Clearwater Lake area have risen high enough to trigger a “No Wake” restriction under Stearns County Ordinance 534. This affects Grass Lake, Clearwater Lake, Lake Augusta and Lake Caroline. The no-wake restriction is for boaters within 300 feet of shore. Public access locations will be marked with the appropriate signage.
