The City of Rice received a gold star on its chart for its handling of finances in 2015.
A summary of the city’s annual financial audit was presented at the March 21 city council meeting by John Archer of Schlenner Wenner & Co., an accounting firm in St. Cloud.
In 2015, Rice had a budget of $810,000, slightly below revenues of $775,000, Archer noted. However, the city still managed to have an end-of-year cash balance of $65,000, which Archer termed as “good.”
He said he found no difficulties when examining city finances. Some areas of concern from two years ago have been corrected satisfactorily, he noted.
“The audit went very well,” Archer told the council, adding the cooperation from city staff was excellent. “It went great; it was a smooth process.”
