A final budget was agreed upon at the Dec. 14 city council meeting.
The 2016 budget is about $5.21 million, an increase of about 5.4 percent from this year. The 2015 budget was about $4.95 million.
City officials approved a final tax levy of about $3.42 million, which is exactly the same as the 2015 levy. The levy on the whole has dropped steadily from $3.72 million in 2010.
City Finance Director Jack Kahlhamer expects the city tax rate to decrease from 48.17 percent to 46.38 percent due to new development and property value increases.
