As Sartell-St. Stephen school leaders contemplate a possible coronavirus outbreak in Central Minnesota, they offer the standard advice for preventing the spread of viruses.
Students and parents are advised to wash your hands frequently, cover your cough and don’t touch the person next to you, according to Superintendent Jeff Schwiebert. If a student runs a fever, stay home.
“We don’t want to scare folks,” he said. “Be smart on how we spread germs and how we collect germs from others.”
With the district’s spring break coming up from March 23-27, practicing good hygiene is even more important as families travel around the country.
If an outbreak does hit Central Minnesota, Schwiebert said the district will look to the health department for advice on how to deal with the virus.
To prevent the spread of any viruses, the Centers for Disease Control recommends washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose or sneezing. It also advises not to touch your eyes, nose and mouth and to clean objects and surfaces you touch often.
