The St. John’s Prep Board of Regents recently announced that it would be adding a fifth-grade pilot program for the 2019-20 school year.
The program plans to continue to include hands-on, project-based and outdoor rich experiences. The new pilot program will integrate fifth- and sixth-grade to expand student learning experiences for students to further develop strong writing skills, language basics, fine arts and will include options to progress at a higher mathematical level.
“We have been asked repeatedly to expand our curriculum to fifth-grade students,” said principal Katie Bergstrom. “We are excited to be able to do that and to bring an even richer experience to our middle school program.”
Local residents commented on their children’s experiences at St. John’s Prep School.
Kari Salzer, from St. Joseph, shared about her son, Wyatt’s, experiences. Wyatt is a seventh-grader at the school and began attending the school as a sixth-grader.
“My son loves that St. John’s Prep has great opportunities for hands-on learning through the outdoor programming,” she said. “Being able to see and feel what he is learning develops a great sense of reality. St. John’s Prep has shown my son not only the sense of accountability, yet also the positive encouragement towards his successes. ”
Families interested in learning more about the expansion are encouraged to attend the Jan. 21 Discovery Day. For more information or to schedule a visit, contact the Admission Office at 320-363-3315.
