A St. Joseph man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being thrown from his ATV while maneuvering a curve in Eden Lake Township, five miles north of Eden Vally.
At 7:45 p.m. May 11, a caller reported a male rolled his ATV and was unconscious.
Upon arrival on scene, Stearns County deputies learned Jon Sanborn, 45, of St. Joseph, was northbound on 223rd Avenue on his ATV approaching the curve at 188th Street. As Sanborn maneuvered the curve, he was traveling too fast to handle the curve and ran off the roadway and was thrown from the ATV. Sanborn was treated on scene and transported to the St. Cloud Hospital via ground ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. Sanborn was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was the Paynesville Police Department, Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Eden Valley Fire Department, Life Link Air Ambulance and Mayo Ambulance Service.
