Work to bring a McDonald’s restaurant to town will begin on Monday, Oct. 8.
The address of the business will be 1180 Elm St. E. Specifically, it will stand at the northwest intersection of CR 133 and CR 75.
The plan is for the restaurant to open in January, St. Joseph City Administrator Judy Weyrens said. The building is expected to be 3,930 square feet with a seating capacity of 68 people.
City council members in May voted to allow the splitting up of land so development of the business could begin. The 2.4-acre property, owned by the Central Minnesota Credit Union, was originally platted into three lots. Weyrens said previously McDonald’s only wanted a portion of the land.
Each lot is about 1.2 acres. This is what McDonald’s needs for its development.
The cost of the building project is estimated at $645,000, according to the business’s building-permit application.
