Absentee voting will begin today, Sept. 21 for voters choosing candidates vying in the Nov. 8 general election.
Absentee voting can be done by eligible voters who will be gone from their precincts during the official voting day or who, for one reason or another, cannot make it physically to the polls on election day.
There are several ways absentee ballots can be cast. Ballots can be filled out in person at county courthouses or ballots can be obtained online or by mail from the courthouses.
To obtain an absentee ballot online, go to www.co.stearns.mn.us. Or contact the auditor’s/treasurer’s office for an application to be mailed or faxed. The ballots can be returned in person, by fax or via email. The fax number is 320-656-3916.

For absentee voters in Benton County, do the following:
Call the Benton County Courthouse Auditor/Treasurer’s Office at 320-968-5006 to request an absentee ballot by phone. Or request a ballot online at www.co.benton.mn.us. Once on the website, click on “Departments,” then click on “Auditor/Treasurer,” then click on “Request Absentee Ballot.”
Voters can also get the ballots in person at the courthouse in downtown Foley.
