From left to right are six U.S. Marines: Private First Class Ira Hayes, Private First Class Harold Schultz (barely visible), Sergeant Michael Strank (barely visible), Private First Class Franklin Sousley, Private First Class Harold Keller and Corporal Harlon Block. Tragically, Strank, Sousley and Block were later killed in action.
