Jay Keller Sgt. USMC
1963-1968 Vietnam Veteran
When we enlisted in the military we pledged our allegiance to the United States of America. Our duty was to follow the orders of our superiors. The very top of that chain of command is the President of the United States.
When considering your candidate of choice in this year’s national election, remember one person (Donald Trump) referred to us as “suckers and losers.” It only took five attempts to find a doctor who would say he had a bone spur, thus avoiding being drafted. I ask you “is this the type of a leader you possibly risk your life for?”
Just a reminder, he has directly called Sen. John McCain a “loser” who spent five-and-a-half years as POW during the Vietnam War. He called Sen. Tammy Duckworth a “loser. She’s a double amputee from her war injuries. He called Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman a “loser.” He is a Purple Heart recipient from an IED explosion in the Iraqi War and also was not promoted to colonel because he gave testimony before Congress that did not sit well with certain people. You get the gist.
We veterans all do/did our part to protect and defend our country at various times and many places. In my book, the real “loser” might just be a five-time draft dodger who doesn’t care or respect veterans.
