When are enough school shootings enough?

We need everyone’s help! Three more children and three more adults were killed at a private religious school on March 27. We have had 13 school shootings this year alone as well as 130 mass shootings this year to date. At what point do we say, we need to make any attempt to make our schools safer for our kids?

Does that happen when those opposed to safety measures regarding guns have their kids in the line of fire? When one congressman from Tennessee, where the shooting occurred, who had sent out his family Christmas card with each of his family members holding an AR-15 assault rifle, was asked that very question after the shooting in his state, he simply replied, “There is nothing we can do.” He home-schooled his kids. He offered the usual “thoughts and prayers.” Well, if it were his kids, would he offer the same platitudes?

Don’t we believe all kids should feel safe in our schools? In talking to kids, I’ve found many who say they don’t.

The shooter had an AR-15 rifle that is made for military use. No real hunter uses an AR-15 to catch any type of game. As a former Navy corpsman with the Marines who took care of wounded in the Vietnam Conflict, an AR-15 is simply devastating. This type of weapon is made for war and not to prove one’s manhood!

All we hear is our Second Amendment rights are being infringed upon, nothing about our children. When will we all say enough is enough and protect our children?

We call on our Congressmen from the Sixth District to step up to the plate with action and protect our children instead of seeing this carnage week after week. As of this most recent tragedy in Tennessee, our Congressman has done nothing! We need everyone’s help!
