The warning-light system installed at the CR 2/Minnesota Street intersection west of St. Joseph appears to have reduced collisions.
From fall of 2012 when the intersection was constructed until the fall of 2014, there were eight collisions at the intersection. Five of those involved serious injuries including one fatality.
Since the warning lights were installed in the fall of 2014, there have been six collisions but only one with a minor injury and one with a possible injury.
Stearns Engineer Jodi Teich told Stearns County commissioners on June 5 that when the warning system is activated, traffic slows down.
