ReStore volunteers needed

The ReStore is mainly staffed by volunteers. More volunteers are needed to help keep the store running smoothly. All the proceeds from the ReStore go to Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity to build more houses. It’s a great place to volunteer during the winter, or year around.

One-time volunteers: Volunteers are welcome to come for a one-day experience. Volunteers do tasks such as cleaning, organizing product, stocking shelves, riding in the truck to assist with picking up larger donated items and more. The tasks vary depending on the daily needs.

Ongoing volunteers: We also are looking for volunteers who will come regularly to the ReStore (approximately once a week) to do tasks such as: greeting customers and helping them shop, answering the phone, knowing what product we accept, riding in the truck to assist with picking up larger donated items, doing computer work and office tasks and more.

If you are interested in volunteering, call Melanie Blake at the Habitat office (320) 656-8890 ext. 104 or email melanieblake@cmhfh.org.

St. John’s Prep hosts Discovery Day

Families interested in learning about the innovative curriculum, and other opportunities at St. John’s Prep, are encouraged to attend the upcoming Discovery Day on Friday, Jan. 11. Students currently in grades 5-11 are welcome to attend classes, meet the teachers and students, and experience what it’s like to be a part of the St. John’s Prep community. Parents are also invited to attend an information session with administrators of the school.

Guest students arrive before 8 a.m. and are matched with a “host” student for the day. The Middle School (for incoming grades 6-8) Discovery Day ends after lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m. For the Upper School (for incoming grades 9-12), Discovery Day guests are invited to spend the entire day in classes.

Registration for Discovery Day is required. Call (320) 363-3321. Due to limited space, we encourage interested families to apply now for the 2013-14 academic year.
