The regular school board meeting of Independent School District 748 was called to order at 5 p.m. by Chair Patrick Marushin. Members present: Marushin, chair; Matt Moehrle, vice chair; Amanda Byrd, director; Jason Nies, director; and Dr. Jeff Ridlehoover, superintendent. Members absent: Jeremy Snoberger, clerk; Tricia Meling, treasurer.
A motion was made by Moehrle and seconded by Nies to APPROVE THE AGENDA WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS; add Jason Menth, SMS, assistant principal, 6/30/22 to consent agenda item A.4.d and remove action item C.5, approve the individual contracts. All in favor. Motion carried.
During the public comment opportunity four members of the community addressed the School Board. Peter, resident, spoke on the topic of change and policies; Troy, business owner, parent and resident, spoke on the topic of equity rejected?; Kelsey, parent, spoke on the topic of school policy; Steve, former parent, citizen, spoke on the topic of district policy.
A motion was made by Moehrle and seconded by Byrd to APPROVE CONSENT ITEMS A.4.a – A.4.l AS PRESENTED BELOW. All in favor. Motion carried.

Superintendent Report:
• Dr. Jeff Ridlehoover reported on happenings around the district. Even with the unique challenges the 2021-2022 school year was a success and one to remember. Sabre graduation was held on June 4; special thanks to all those involved.
Congratulations to the High School Envirothon team for competing at the conservation event and the high school yearbook class for receiving the Jostens 2022 National Yearbook Program of Excellence GOLD Level awards. Student representatives of the yearbook class were invited to share their experiences with the School Board.
Congratulations to the varsity baseball team for its run through the section tournament and at the state tournament. Both captains of the team were asked to share their experiences throughout the tournaments.
Dr. Ridlehoover introduced incoming Principal Angela Safran, who will be coming from the Holdingford School District and starting on July 1. Safran was in attendance and gave a brief introduction to the School Board.
While students are re-energizing through the summer, staff is busy preparing for the 2022-2023 school year.
Work is continuing on the strategic plan and mission statement for the District. Student handbooks and the code of conduct is being aligned with District policy.
Condolences to the members of Uvalde, Texas in light of the tragic events that have occurred.
Enrollment ended the school year at 4,063 students. Finally a personal thank you to Kay Nelson and her dedication of more than 30 years to the Sartell-St. Stephen School District.
Educational Equity and Student Experience Committee Report:
• Superintendent Dr. Jeff Ridlehoover provided an update on the committee’s progress and the action steps from the committee.
Budget Report:
• Director of Business Services Joe Prom presented the 2021-2022 revised budget and 2022-2023 preliminary budget.
School Board Committee Report:
• Vice Chair Moehrle reported there was not a special session at the state capital and there is currently not one scheduled.
• Director Byrd reported on the communications committee meeting, topics included working with a consultant to supplement some of the time for the communications department.
• Chair Marushin reported on the finance committee meeting, topics included a presentation of the revised budget from this school year and the preliminary one for next school year.
