Sartell
As the drama continually unfolds at the Sartell-St. Stephen school board, I am reminded of the song “Multiplication” by Bobby Darrin. One stanza reads, “… you take two hares with no cares, pretty soon you got a room full of rabbits.” The school board has three rabbits: Thumper Scott, Flopsy Jen and Mopsy Emily.
I am sure all three have a lot of care for the school district and are doing everything possible to make it the best around. Their campaign slogan says it all, “parents over politics.”
To ensure their slogan has merit, the three members meet in their hutches and quick, like a bunny, they come up with ideas on how to ensure their ideas can become school policy. Pulling a rabbit out of a hat, they have decided they know best of who should work in the school. They have refused to approve the recommendations of the superintendent and supervisors for 22 employees – no politics here.
Hoping for a rabbit’s foot to make it happen, they have voted down the recommendations for three months. They are now down a rabbit hole and if the contracts for the 22 are not approved, the 22 employees will be out of work July 1.
The apparent reason for this dust bunny maneuver is they don’t like one of the employees so they will hold up the other 21 – no politics here.
Thumper Scott and Mopsy Emily met and complained about one employee and expressed concerns about their personal experiences with that individual – again no politics here. That individual was recommended for employment.
And so now the mischief continues. July 1 comes quickly. Showing no cares, but hopping like bunnies, hoping to avoid shutting down the school district because of no employees our three little rabbits have to come up with another plan.
Hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat, it will be interesting to see their next “parents over politics” plan of action.
