The Sartell police and fire departments now have $1,500 each to add to their equipment funds, thanks to a donation from Country Financial of Sartell.
At the Sept. 23 City Council meeting, three representatives of Country Financial presented a check for $3,000 to the equipment funds, half for the police department, half for the fire department.
Accepting the donation at the council meeting were Sartell Police Chief Jim Hughes and Fire Chief Jim Sattler.
“I don’t think folks thank you enough for what you do,” said Country Financial representative Chip Schwartzentraub, the company’s manager. He presented the check, along with Country Financial employees Scott Schmitz and Leah McGwire.
The donation was part of the company’s Operation Helping Heroes program, which gives funds to public-safety agencies and other good causes in area cities. The Sartell branch of Country Financial, on Troop Drive, offers insurance and financial services to customers.
