St. Joseph’s streets are more festive this Christmas season thanks to a $7,000 donation from the St. Joseph Lions to buy 18 lighted wreaths. Fundraising events during 2016 and 2017 supported the purchase.
The new decorations arrived in June and then where hung by St. Joseph Firefighters. The Lions’ donation was added to a city fund to buy more decorations. Many of the new decorations can be seen along College Avenue S.
In addition to the new lights, Boy Scouts swapped out bulbs on the older decorations and replaced them with LEDs.

Keith Louwagie, a captain in the St. Joseph Fire Department, and Mary Stommes, St. Joseph Lions president, stand under one of the Christmas decorations purchased with $7,000 raised by the Lions.
