Kay Steiner, Sartell

You have to be kidding! You would take one more of our rights to be represented by the people by making the office of sheriff an appointed office?

Was regional government OK with you? Maybe I have to explain what regional government is or why it was set up.

Regional government was set up to dissolve our Constitution by making “all” political offices “appointed.” Appointed offices, take for instance “HRA,” do not have the right to create tax or spend money. They think they do but they are in error. In their ignorance, they are trying to even set their own income. We just had a sample at the St. Cloud City Hall meeting two weeks ago.

No, we don’t need to chew away at our Constitution, which appointing sheriffs would do. Even if some group before Minnesota state-appointed someone to be sheriff for convenience sake. We are a republic. We vote for those we wish to represent us.

We are having enough problems with a stupid law put up by “who knows” that allows one person to vouch for several people in a building. Dubious whether they are citizens or have lived here the required time.

Let’s get on the mayor to support our Constitution closer to its original form.
