Tuesday, April 6
3:23 a.m. Hazard. 12 Avenue E. An officer was dispatched for a report of a deer standing in the roadway that wouldn’t move. The caller stated it looked like the deer may have been hit by a car because the hide was missing on the hip and knee. An officer responded and once on scene the deer ran off.
Wednesday, April 7
4:15 p.m.. Found property. Amber Avenue. A caller stated they found two sets of golf clubs and a pull cart for clubs on the sidewalk. The caller stated there have been thefts in the area and was concerned this was related. An officer responded and took possession of the golf clubs and cart. All property was placed into safekeeping until an owner comes forward or more information is found.
Thursday, April 8
4:11 p.m. Exposure. CR 120. Officers were requested to respond to a male who was exposing himself in the parking lot. When officers arrived, the male and vehicle were gone. The caller was able to get a license plate of the vehicle, and officers were able to identify the male by description and license plate. They spoke to the male, and he told officers he had gotten sick in his vehicle and stepped out but never exposed himself. Officers checked the business for video, but the incident was blocked by another vehicle.
Friday, April 9
5:08 p.m. Crash. 2 Street S. Officers were dispatched to a head-on crash with no injuries. When officers arrived on scene it was noted both vehicle’s airbags had deployed. Officers offered medical assistance, but it was denied. One of the drivers admitted to causing the accident, stating she had given the vehicle “too much beans.” The officer translated that as accelerating too quickly. While the officer was handling insurance information, he detected an alcohol odor coming from the female. Ultimately the driver was cited for driving while impaired.
Saturday, April 10
10:33 p.m. Hazard. 2 Street S. Complainant called dispatch stating there was a large animal carcass blocking the west-bound lane. When officers arrived on scene, they found a large beaver dead in the roadway. The officer moved the beaver off to the side of the road and let Sartell Public Works know to dispose of the beaver.
Sunday, April 11
9:31 a.m. Harassment. Pinecone Road S. Dispatch requested an officer to meet with a party in the Public Safety parking lot over harassment complaints. The caller told the officer he had recently hired a new employee and when he asked the employee for new hire information and a drug test, the employee got upset and left. Since then, the employee had been harassing the complainant to get personal items. The complainant told the employee to meet at the Sartell Police Department to get items back. The employee showed up, got the items and drove away without talking to the officer. The complainant just wanted the threats documented and nothing else was needed from the officer.
Monday, April 12
1:48 p.m. Unemployment fraud. Morningstar Court. The complainant called dispatch to speak to an officer about someone filing for unemployment in her name. She was currently employed and working. The complainant informed the officer that her employer had also been contacted. She and her employer had already filled out the appropriate fraud forms through the state and submitted them. The officer informed her of other things she may want to do. The complainant was given her case number and notified to call back if anything new happens.
Wednesday, April 14
2:05 p.m. Permit to purchase. Pinecone Road S. Front office staff created six case numbers for individuals requesting a permit to purchase from the City of Sartell. These applications and applicants were looked over by staff checking date of birth, addresses of residency (must be a Sartell resident) and past criminal history. All six applications were clear and approved. Six permits were mailed to the applicants.
Thursday, April 15
12:13 a.m. Tampering with motor vehicle. 10 Avenue N. Dispatch notified officers of juveniles tampering with vehicles in a parking lot. The caller thought the kids may be trying to steal license plates. The caller also informed dispatch that the kids were moving toward the dumpster area and was able to confirm the officer pulled into the correct parking lot. Ultimately the officers were unable to locate the juveniles.
Friday, April 16
5:04 p.m. Unemployment fraud. 3 Street N. A caller stated she received a letter in the mail stating her application for unemployment was received. The caller stated her employer got a similar letter. The caller told the officer she was fully employed and did not file the application. The caller had no suspect information and was working on freezing her credit and changing account numbers. The officer supplied the caller with a case number in case more information is found.
Saturday, April 17
10:28 a.m. Theft from vehicle. 11 Avenue E. An officer was dispatched to an apartment parking lot. The caller stated they had last been near their truck around 7:30 p.m. the night before. The next morning, he noticed what appeared to be a spill next to his truck. The officer on scene could smell that the spill was gasoline. The caller looked under his truck, and it appeared there was a hole drilled into his gas tank and two plastic pieces were on the ground. The caller had filled up his tank the day before; the loss of gasoline was approximately $50. The caller also noticed a small jack missing from the truck, costing $30. The officer asked if the caller had seen anything suspicious, and the caller stated the night before they had seen a white sedan driving around the lot a couple times that parked near the dumpster. The plate of the vehicle was not obtained at the time.
Sunday, April 18
6:14 a.m. Theft from vehicle. 7 Avenue S. An officer was dispatched to meet the caller in a parking lot. The caller stated someone broke into their vehicle overnight and stole a couple dollars and some loose change. The vehicle was left unlocked, and no damage was done to the vehicle.
Monday, April 19
12:39 p.m. Business assist. 2 Street S. An officer was requested to stop by this location for a suspicious package. The officer was told an employee thought the package had a strange smell that resembled drugs. The officer inspected the package and did some research on the addresses listed on the package. The addresses listed were suspicious, and the case was passed onto another agency for more research.
