It’s an awful truth to face – Trump’s violent threats work

St. Cloud

“If you go after me, I’m coming after you!” Donald J. Trump warned after his multiple indictments.

Violent threats by Trump work! Mitt Romney, Republican Senator from Utah, spends $5,000 a day on personal security because he voted twice for the two impeachments of Trump’s and forcefully opposed Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021 (the Capitol Insurrection). Romney recently said he will not run for re-election in 2024. Romney fears for his personal safety and his family’s safety.

In a personal discussion in the Senate, other Republican senators who wanted to vote against Trump on issues were fearful also of personal violence to themselves and their families. Just look what happened to election workers in Pennsylvania. Eighteen times Trump named two election workers as cheaters, as pulling fake ballots from suitcases for then-candidate Joe Biden. Those two election workers had personal violent threats made to them at their homes.

The courts ruled against the former president and for the two volunteer election workers. Our congressman, Tom Emmer, supports Rep. Kevin McCarthy who supports/works for Trump. It’as so hard to understand the acceptance of violence in a Democracy. Having said that, Trump has embarked on a “Retribution Tour” (threatening those who have opposed him) in his run for the presidential nomination and yet he has supporters. Former Republican governors of Minnesota such as Al Quie, Arnie Carlson and Tim Pawlenty certainly would not act like Donald J. Trump. The ballot box is where issues are to be decided. Where have all the good Republicans gone? We all saw with our own eyes what happened on Jan. 6! Violence is not the answer, if we are to remain a Democracy. What happened to Congressman Tom Emmer?
