Some meat products produced by the Huisken Meat Co. of Sauk Rapids may be contaminated with extraneous wood materials, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service.
The USDA issued a press release Jan. 4 about the problem.
The contamination involved “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with Vidalia Onion.” They are two-pound boxes each containing six patties, with use-by dates of May 2016 and June 2016. If anyone has those patties, they should be returned to the store where they were purchased.
The product was produced between Nov. 19, 2005 and Dec. 9, 2015.
All of the 89,568 pounds of this product are under recall by the company.
According to the USDA report, the extraneous wood material originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health-care provider.
