I wanted to update you on the progress to get bullet-proof vests for all first responders and firefighters in the State of Minnesota. I have good news to report finally.
One afternoon, State Rep. Tim O’Driscoll called me with an update. He informed me $1 million had been appropriated for reimbursement for the purchase of bullet-proof vests for first responders and firefighters in Minnesota.
To begin the reimbursement process once the facility has purchased the bullet proof-vests for their staff they should go to the Minnesota Public Safety website and fill out the appropriate paperwork to begin this process.
O’Driscoll also told me if funds run out before all first responders and firefighters receive a bullet-proof vest, more funds will be appropriated in January 2025 to fulfill that need. I have informed my son-in-law of this information and asked him to notify his supervisor working for Rochester Mayo Clinic as he is employed as a paramedic in the local area.
If you read this letter, please take time to inform anyone you know of this information in regards to first responders and/or firefighters as you may have family and/or friends this information would benefit. I want to thank O’Driscoll for his assistance on this effort as he kept me informed of any updates all along the way.
I’m so relieved by the good news.
