At approximately 2:52 a.m., Sartell police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of 1st Ave. N. for a burglary in progress.
A homeowner awoke, finding someone in the kitchen area. The suspect was described as being small in stature and wearing a long winter coat, possibly tan or light in color that went down to their knees with a hood pulled over their head.
The homeowner followed the suspect out of the home where the suspect fled on foot. Sartell police and county deputies checked the area but could not locate the suspect. The suspect is believed to have entered through an unlocked door as there was no sign of forced entry into the residence. No further information is available as of press time on Wednesday.
The police department is reminding residents to keep their doors locked at night and to report any suspicious activity.
