The St Cloud Duplicate Bridge Club will hold its American Contract Bridge League-sanctioned Granite City Sectional meet June 22-24 for three days of bridge games for all experience levels.
It will take place at the Sartell Community Center, and the games will start at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on each of those three days.
“We have been playing here (Sartell Community Center) weekly and love the setting,” said Connie Nelson, club member. “We are eager to share it with bridge players from around the state.”
A new and special feature of the upcoming tournament is that the game on Saturday will be a “Charity Game,” with any donations that day from bridge players or community members going to Anna Marie’s Alliance, which works to end violence in homes. Those donations will be matched up to $500 from KSNI/Leighton Broadcasting.
“So, if you already know you like Duplicate Bridge, come and enjoy the challenge of playing in an ACBL Tournament in your own community,” Nelson said. “Mark your calendars and hold the dates. Find a partner and come. If you need help with finding a partner, no problem, just ask.”
The goal in traditional “Rubber Bridge” is to win more points than the pair of people you are playing against whereas in Duplicate Bridge the goal is to do better than other pairs playing exactly the same cards.
If any people enjoy Bridge but have never tried Duplicate Bridge, contact Connie Nelson now to try it out, playing at local club games. For partnerships, or any other questions, email Nelson at Connie@psg.us.
