The City of Sartell agreed to purchase 38 acres of property adjacent to Pinecone Central Park.
At its Aug. 12 meeting, the council called a closed-session meeting to discuss the price of the property with the sellers. When the council reopened its meeting to the public, the mayor announced the city had agreed, in the closed session, to purchase the property for $208,870. The mayor then asked the council to approve or disapprove the motion. It was approved 4-1 with council member Sarah Jane Nicoll voting against it.
The acreage is known as the “Vilcheck” property. The roughly rectangular-shaped land is located right next to Pinecone Central Park, along its northwest side.
Council members have not determined what the land will be used for, although it will almost certainly be park-related. The land is located next to Celebration Lutheran Church. It’s a mixture of woodland and wetland.
