After reading the “Our View” editorial in the Sartell Newsleader today (Feb. 24, 2012) I’ve decided to put on hold any further advertising by our church in the Newsleaders.
I am a champion of our constitutional right of free speech. I believe all opinions must be heard in a healthy society. However, I feel the tone of vitriolic name-calling (I counted about a dozen disparaging epithets this week) and bitterness that is present in some of your paper’s editorials does not align very well with the values of our congregation. I do not want our resources or our name to be associated with or used to support and promote a paper that, I feel, on a regular basis crosses the line into unreasoned, uncivil, immature and disrespectful discourse.
